On Tuesday, April 13, around 5:18 p.m., a two car accident occurred on Highway 11 at Pleasant Valley Road in Monroe, GA. A Kia Sorento was traveling North on Georgia 11, followed by a Dodge Ram truck. The Dodge was traveling too closely to the Kia as it slowed to turn right onto Pleasant Valley Road. To avoid a collision the Dodge attempted to swerve right, but began to rotate clockwise and struck the rear of the Kia. The Dodge then partially went off the east shoulder and overturned onto its left side.
The 49 year old driver of the Dodge was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:32.
The 60 year old driver of the Kia was uninjured.
There was no alcohol or drug impairment seen for either driver, and there are no charges pending.
